What a difference a day or two makes!

Well I bought a 3/4 hairpiece on Annabelles Wigs it arrived yesterday and I put it on and couldn't believe how fabulous it is, perfect colour match, looks and feels just like my own hair!!

I got glammed up this afternoon to go for tea at my lovely mum & dad's with my hubby and decided on the 40's today for tea. I put on my trusty floral tea dress which I just adore and it fits me whether I'm having a good or bad day with my weight! I flicked the front of my hair into a little curl/quiff then put on the hairpiece and a little head scarf, then my make up.

I have to say when I looked in the mirror for the first time in a very long time I actually felt confident and like "me" I honestly feel like a different person to my previous post like I could say "look here I am, this is me, take me as I am or don't bother!"

I just did a day look with my make up, and finished off with the most lush limited edition lippie Mermaid from Rockalily I just love Ree Ree's lipsticks, I have Rockette Red in my make up bag and also the other limited edition Vintage Vixen on order. If you haven't tried Rockalily lipstick you must, they are fabulous for my pale skin, make your teeth look white (especially rockette red) and have awesome staying power!!

I have put a few pics on let me know what you think of the hairpiece as most of you will know my hair is quite short and I'm desperate for it to grow, so this 3/4 style is just perfect for me.

Just because I dress 50s style......does it mean I'm SO different?!

Sorry for the long gap between posts (slaps my wrist!!)

I thought about the title of this post the other day and wanted to write something on my blog, so here goes! (this is just my views!)

I find it fascinating that people seem to think because I don't conform to the "fashion" of today that I must be 1. different, 2. have no feelings 3. am not able to hear or see 4. am not entitled to be what I want without judgements

The reason for these 4 points is over the last few weeks I have really noticed what "reaction" I seem to get when I'm out on my own dressed in my 40's or 50's get up. I have had extremely disapproving looks from alot of people, but a couple of weeks ago on two different occasions people actually voiced their opinions on what I was wearing, and was quite hurtful.

I was in two minds about writing this as I am not a confident person at all, but find that when I put my make up on, do my hair and put my vintage/repro/rockabilly outfit on I finally feel like "me" (if that makes sense!) Anyway, I found that the said people who decided it was fine to shout remarks to me "what the **** does she look like she think she's in a time warp shes mental" and such like comments have really knocked what confidence I did have.....what are your views on this and what are people's reactions if any to your style?

I appreciate everyone can have their opinion of course, its just I don't go out of my way to give looks or shout remarks to people who conform to the latest "fashion" and all look like clones of each other, do I?!

I'd love your thoughts on this and hope I haven't offended anyone!

Back later in the week with some pics :)

Miss Dolly's First Post!!

This blog post is well over-due, since I decided I wanted to have my own blog I just don't seem to have had chance to sit down and write a post, even though I've got lots I want to share with you!

I am Katy aka Miss Dolly, I am a massive lover of all things vintage, pin-up, burlesque etc! I love the whole scene you get to "meet" some truly awesome people both in person and online who all share the same love of the vintage lifestyle.

I am in the process of opening my own shop online, which will of course be selling everything I love....it will be primarily handmade & bespoke items, but also one off finds that I pick up on my travels! - keep tuned in on twitter and on here for updates on how its coming along and for an opening date :)

I've had a busy couple of weeks....my friend and I planned a trip to London months ago to check out lots of lush shops such as What Katie Did, Vivien of Holloway and Collectif. Well we went and it was "WOW" so much so we are going again in 2 weeks (to give us chance to get some pennies to spend!!) To find shops that actually make clothing/lingerie that fits my curves, was a breath of fresh air and I'm not ashamed to say I actually shed a few tears as I lack confidence and when I put on my first VOH dress I realised I had good curves - instant confidence booster!

Then it was my birthday last Wednesday, I had a lovely day got some amazing gifts including, money for the next London trip, Chanel No5 perfume, the most fabulous 50's style pinny my mummy made me (more to come on this in another post, inc pics!) lush shoes, Helen Rochfort bag (had soooo many compliments about this bag!), lots of little vintage pieces, and a few books I treated myself too (I will be blogging about them in a post soon)

I also bought my first Rockalily lipstick in Rockette Red, well what can I say I LOVE it!! I shall be buying more, it made my teeth look so white and stayed on for hours, even without using lipliner :)

Well I think thats all from me for my post....hope you've stayed with me till here :o)

Till my next post my lovely dolls
